Sherry's professional skills/knowledge are very good. She listened and directed us to properties that were consistent with our stated needs/wants.
However, we were quite disappointed in a couple of matters involving money. The first relates to the referral fee that was due the selling agent for the home we were selling. We were going to use our selling agent as the buyers agent (in lieu of Sherry), but she suggested that we might be better off with an agent more familiar with the area we were looking. We assured her that we would make sure she was in line for the normal referral fee. That was brought up with Sherry when we retained her services, and she didn't seem to have a problem with it. However, when we wrote the contract on the house we purchased, she started complaining that she shouldn't have to pay the referral fee because our other agent "hadn't done anything". She finally agreed to pay her about 1/3 the normal fee, but am not sure that has even been paid.
The other matter is even more egregious and involves a payment of $365 by us, the buyer, to our agents broker for some bs marketing fee. This fee is in addition to the sales commission received by the Broker (and Sherry) This fee was "disclosed" on the Buyers Disclosure, and buried in item 13 of a list of things related to possible issues with the house. This additional fee was not highlighted in the text, nor did Sherry bring to our attention that we would have to pay realtor fees in addition to the commissions paid on the sale. Even after we were very vocal in our displeasure, Sherry refused to remove the fee.
Unfortunately, these integrity issues really soured what was otherwise a quite pleasant and professional relationship to the point that we would not recommend either Sherry or Coldwell Banker as agent or broker.
