I started in the business as a real estate investor myself. Having the mindset of an investor helps me understand the viewpoint of my clients as home owners, investors, and developers.
In addition to my experience in the residential markets of metro Boston, I also have extensive experience with business lease transactions for commercial retail operations and restaurants. I'm a former technology management consultant, and investment banker, having worked all over the US, parts of Asia, and Europe.
I am also an avid athlete (rower, boxer, ice hockey, ski, volleyball), a certified scuba diver and have even gone sky diving, although I am a golfing hacker. You'll often find me listening to NPR or watching CNN or CNBC for business and financial market news.
I've closed over 400+ purchase and sale transactions over the past several years - everything from the lows, to the peaks of the market, and the rebound that we're currently in. This means that I've experienced just about every issue that one could ever expect in a transaction - and how to head it off before it becomes a real or bigger issue. Of course, as with Life, issues will "evolve", and my goals are to try to discover them a best and early as possible, to protect both my buyers and sellers - don't get me wrong, there will still be bumps along the road, but my goal is mitigate and minimize them for you.
Of course, before I get my clients into a transaction - it must first be negotiated. Those same 400+ transactions - many unique (and standard) solutions have been achieved for my clients. The definition of a "good deal" will mean different things to different people - it could mean the best price that takes into account a market inefficiency, or the best timing, or beating out the competition, or just the "right fit" for your circumstance - again, as with Life, it's not always perfect, but I will do my best and you can be confident about that. Having taken many negotiations classes and trainings in the past (MIT, management consultant, investment banker), certainly doesn't hurt as well - but nothing replaces my plethora of actual and practical experiences.
Here is a common question I get from clients: IS IT A GOOD TIME TO BUY? TO SELL?
My answer is as follows: It depends! Yes, I said "it depends" - people are in different aspects of their lives - the same answer may not be relevant for everyone. I say this because for some, it's not a good time .... for others, it is a good time ... and yet for others, it's a wash. Of course, this doesn't answer your question, but I suggest you sit down with a financial planner and look at your life goals, your job, your age to retirement, any possibility of shifting jobs/markets, and a whole host of other nebulous things. I'm happy to refer you to some planners in the Boston area, if you need them. I'm not trying to convince you one way or the other - it's all about what's the "best fit" for you and "for you NOW". I'm not here to sell you anything, but only to try to give you the best advice I can, based on the situation and your circumstances.
