Seattle Sports Are Alive & Kicking! (No Pun Intended)

For those of you who already know me, you knew this post was in the works sooner than later… It’s no surprise I’m a Seattleite to the core and when Spring and Summer months roll along, I’m a kid in a candy store! My love for this time of year goes beyond the obvious, which is beautiful weather to explore Seattle, better known as ‘The Outdoor Mecca’. For this reason, I rarely ever vacation during this time of the year… Not to mention, this is the height of the Seattle real estate season, and weather is not the only thing heating up in the Emerald City!

The energy that flows through Seattle during this time of year has an addictive allure and in my opinion a lot of this energy can be attributed to the Seattle Sounders FC. As a diehard soccer enthusiast and avid soccer player for 20+ years, I was thrilled when the Seattle Sounders FC were welcomed into Major League Soccer in 2009. The original diehard Sounders Era dates back 1974 to 1983. I still hear stories of Pele, the Brazilian Mega Star, finishing up his career with New York Cosmos playing in the Kingdom against the Sounders. If only I could have witnessed that first-hand! Today, we have a new generation of Soccer, AKA ‘Futbol’ enthusiasts and Seattle has welcomed ‘The World’s Game’ into our city with open arms. The proof is in the pudding! Seattle’s average attendance is 38,000+, which doubles that of the rest of the MLS teams. Not too shabby Seattle!

Seattle also welcomed the Sounders Women this year into the W*League, which is loaded with big names! Not sure how they did it but we have 6 USA National players and 1 Mexican National player all on the same team! Could this be the year that Seattle takes home the MLS Cup & the W*League Cup??

Of course I can’t forget about America’s past-time & our beloved Seattle Mariners! The Mariners have definitely dropped off in fan fare from the Kingdom days where we featured stars like Ken Griffey Jr, Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson and many more fan favorites! However, each year brings forth new opportunities and high hopes for a successful season…

I almost forgot about our Seattle Storm, which would have been a shame being that they are arguably our most successful sports team! For the past decade the Storm have been contending for the title every year and our two-time WNBA Champs! (2004 & 2010)

If you’re thinking of making the move to on of the Seattle homes for sale or merely vacationing, I highly recommend taking in a Sounder game at Century Link Field, the atmosphere is like no other sporting event in North America! (Be prepared to be on your feet & get loud ;-) Or, stop by Safeco on a sunny afternoon to kick back with your box of crackerjacks and enjoy America’s past-time. Key Arena is where you’ll find the Storm battling on the hardwoods.

Let’s show our Seattle teams some love… Go Seattle!
