Seattle Floating Home Tour: Would You Love to Live, Literally, on the Water?

Ever looked at the floating homes in Seattle and thought to yourself...I'd kind of love that. I have, but I've never had the chance to experience one from inside. Now I can, and so can you. The Floating Home tour is coming soon. On 9/9 from 12pm-5pm, you can tour up to 12 houseboats, everything from a diminuative cottage to incredibly large and modern home on the water. For the price of a $25 ticket (plus handling fee), you get the tour and plus electric boat shuttling from location to location along Lake Union. The Oregonian reports that past tours have sold out, so if you've a yen for living on the water, or just the chance to see how people do it, you should buy your tickets soon-- particularly since the tour only takes place every other year.  Contact Brown Paper Tickets  (by phone: 800-838-3006 or online).

And if you fall in love with a flating home, maybe you should make one your own. Search for floating homes on the Seattle MLS through ZipRealty. Simply type in "floating home" in the key word search. Or, even easier, talk to a local real estate agent who has the inside scoop on the all available houseboats.
