Affordable housing for Sacramento residents
Even if you have a great job and an excellent financial plan, it can still be difficult to afford a house. Down payments, monthly mortgage fees and even electric bills can add up in the long run, and a missed payment can have hefty monetary consequences. However, there is good news for the owners of homes for sale in Sacramento - Section 8 vouchers are being given out for the first time in six years, and residents of the county will soon be able to take advantage of this program.
CBS reports that the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency will begin accepting online applications for Section 8 on June 4th, 2012. The agency will only be accepting submissions online, and it expects as many as 100,000 people to apply for the housing voucher.
The Section 8 vouchers are part of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, which is designed to provide safe and sanitary housing to the elderly, people with disabilities and low-income families. Potential homeowners can use the discounts and incentives offered by the voucher to improve their chances of securing a quality residence. If you believe that you may qualify for assistance, apply this summer on the program's website.
