Additional employment opportunities make Houston real estate market ideal for buyers

Finding houses for sale in Houston can be easy due to the inventory of properties available in the area. Additionally, new employment opportunities from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) have helped Houston become a popular place for families to live.

The city's home sales increased in February 2012, according to the Houston Association of REALTORS (HAR). The volume of single-family owners rose 16.9 percent between February 2011 and February 2012. Additionally, home sales for properties priced between $80,000 and $250,000 increased in February 2012.

These statistics indicate that more people are taking advantage of affordable home prices and are ready to settle down in the area.

"The Houston housing market continues to show welcomed strength at the end of February 2012," HAR chairman Wayne A. Stroman said. "In addition to all the positive indicators in HAR's February report, Houston is reaping the benefits of great economic news in the form of more than 76,000 jobs created over the past year, according to the TWC. It stands to reason that with new jobs being filled, these employees and their families will need housing."
