Former Bear sells home in Wadsworth

Trumaine McBride recently listed his five-bedroom home in Wadsworth, Illinois. Many Chicagoans know McBride for his two seasons with the Chicago Bears before leaving the team after the 2009 season. McBride has since played with Arizona and Jacksonville, Florida, and is now an unaffiliated free agent, the Chicago Tribune reported.

McBride's 3,417-square-foot house is listed for $319,999, and he originally paid $354,000 in May 2008. The home is in Wadsworth's Midlane Country Club development. The home's price indicates the current downward price pressure that could be good news for those looking at homes for sale in Chicago. As homes are coming on the market that were originally purchased before the real estate market took a turn, buyers right now can take advantage of substantial deals.

Wadsworth is roughly 41 miles north of downtown Chicago and just minutes south of the Wisconsin border. The community provides residents with a very small-town feel, with the village encompassing about 8.8 square miles and population estimated to be approximately 3,083 in 2000. Today, Wadsworth offers inhabitants a "spacious rural lifestyle similar to that which existed in the 1870s," the Encyclopedia of Chicago says, making it a great choice for those who want a more laid-back lifestyle within easy commuting distance of The Windy City.
