Winter wonderland comes to Santa Clara

It's officially December, and families across the United States are preparing for their holiday of choice. While some people celebrate their Jewish faith with a menorah, others observe the Christmas spirit with a Christmas tree. Residents who have purchased real estate in Santa Clara have the opportunity to celebrate both holidays by attending various events around the greater Bay Area.

Global Winter Wonderland 2012
While you may figure that traveling to a winter wonderland would take you away from the temperate atmosphere of Santa Clara, this isn't necessarily the case. Many people find there are plenty of seasonally inspired events right at home in the Bay Area.  The Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal reports that festivities at the Global Winter Wonderland 2012 event are expected to draw large crowds of people to the city. Over 500,000 people are expected to attend this year, up from the 419,000 people who attended the inaugural event in 2011. The festival is currently being held at the Great America theme park and will close on January 1, 2013.

The festival includes the Magic Lantern garden, which has about nine different scenes displayed with colorful lights, rides and various acrobats and Kung Fu exhibitions.
Santa Clara Chorale
Holiday music lovers may want to check out the Santa Clara Chorale. The group has just released its 2012-2013 concert season, and tickets for shows are expected to sell out due to the popularity of the time-honored musical tradition of caroling. According to the group's website, David Wilson started the group that would become the Santa Clara Chorale in 1962. Since then, under the guidance of leaders like Dr. Wilson, Lynn Shurtleff, Thomas Colohan and Ryan James Brandau, the choir has thrilled South Bay residents.

Celebrate the holiday season with a professional performance by the Santa Clara Chorale if you're a fan of both classic and modern compositions.

Christmas tree lighting at City Hall
The Mayor's 2012 Tree Lighting Program will begin at 5:30 p.m. on December 7, 2012. Residents can arrive earlier to participate in a variety of holiday-inspired events. At the Alameda City Hall, Santa Clara residents will be able to skate on a free artificial skating rink, play games, eat candy canes, enjoy crafts with kids and listen to music.

People can enjoy entertainment provided by the Community Band, the Mistle Tones and the Dancing Christmas Trees. Also, a visit from Santa Claus is expected at this cheerful, family-friendly event.

A Chanticleer Christmas
Santa Clara residents who can't get enough Christmas music are invited to attend one of the concerts put on by the local group the Chanticleers. The choral music organization sings a wide variety of holiday and classic music compositions. According to The Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal, the group will be performing throughout the month of December in the Bay Area. The Chanticleer's are scheduled to perform in Santa Clara on December 22, 2012 at Mission Santa Clara at 500 El Camino Real. Programs and sound bites of various pieces are available online for those who wish to check out the group before purchasing tickets.

These and other winter activities are the perfect way to celebrate the holiday season after purchasing one of the homes for sale in Santa Clara. Friends and families will enjoy the opportunity to come together and explore everything that the city and various local organizations have to offer.
