Real estate market in California offers booming opportunities
The housing market is improving across the United States. However, not all metros are advancing in the same way. Potential home sellers in the Bay Area are taking advantage of a strong housing demand, which means many people looking to sell have the upper hand in negotiations.
Current homeowners looking to sell their real estate in San Jose can list the property at a higher price because potential homebuyers are more willing to pay.
"As most housing markets continue to improve nationwide, the relative position of buyers and sellers continues to vary considerably by geography," said real estate expert Stan Humphries. "In some markets, buyers are finding themselves in strong bargaining positions relative to sellers, confidently offering less than the asking price on a home they had months to consider. In other areas, it's sellers that are squarely in the driver's seat with their homes selling within days of listing, often after bidding wars that increase the sale price above the asking price."
According to ALTOS Research, the median price for a single-family home in San Jose as of December 7, 2012 was $541,163. Homes in San Jose are on the market for a limited time because demand is high. The average property was listed for sale for about 90 days as of December 7, 2012.
Real estate in San Jose appeals to potential homebuyers for a variety of reasons. Those with families are attracted to the quality school system.
