Lisa championed us through our recent purchase of a great fixer on acreage in Shingle Springs. The sellers insisted on a very short escrow period, and Lisa rose to the challenge, scheduling inspections, working with our lender and the rapid-response team at Placer Title (shout-out to Cathy French & team!). A minor hitch led to closing one day after the sellers' preferred date, but in the end all parties seemed happy.
During this transaction, we were in the midst of selling our former home in Southern California and traveling up and down the state moving our household goods (saving $$$ in moving expenses). This meant that we weren't around for inspections or in-person meetings. However, Lisa routinely updated us, communicating by phone, text and email; we never felt out of the loop. Electronic document signing made remote transactions easy.
We met Lisa about a year ago when we first decided to relocate. I'd been poking around ZipRealty and decided to contact her when a particular set of properties looked interesting. She immediately replied with an articulate email, we met and toured the properties (that looked less interesting in person than they did on-line, as it turned out) and got a sense of the geography between Folsom and Placerville. Lisa encouraged us to keep looking on Zip while we readied our home for the market and found a rental home in El Dorado Hills for the duration. That process took longer than we'd anticipated, but Lisa stuck with us.
I actually found the house we've purchased on a competitor's website - and Lisa got us an appointment to see it within a day. The property met all our requirements: acreage (10!), oak woodland, surrounded by 10+ acre ranch properties, favorable El Dorado County general plan and zoning designations, good access to services, quiet street, reasonably-kept adjacent properties - and the house itself is a 1-story fixer that we'll be able to update as we choose.
We could not be more impressed with Lisa, and feel that we've gained a friend. It was total serendipity that we encountered her, and the leap of faith into an online real-estate agent relationship has proved fruitful. You never know whether you'll get along with someone, even when you've been referred by someone you trust. We got lucky.
