Why would a licensed agent hire a Realtor to sell their home? I belong to the school of thought that a Realtor can represent themselves as a buyer but they can't do a good job representing themselves as a seller of their primary residence. So when my wife and I thought about selling our home the first step was to select one agent of the several hundred that we knew. We thought it important that our agent average more than 10 transactions per year, ROUTINELY attend local Brokers tours, and be deeply involved in our community. Check, check and check for Terry. Additionally we wanted someone with composure, character and competency!
We hired Terry several weeks before we put our home on the market to help us get the home ready and we were immediately confident we made a good decision. His communication skills were excellent, he kept us informed, had a great list of reasonably priced home improvement specialists and most importantly he managed all of the tasks and paperwork in a systematized way so that everything was done in order and on time.
Terry helped us get our home on the market in the time frame we wanted, worked hard on the open house and followed up thoroughly with all prospects & agents. He professionally and systematically reviewed all offers with us. I was impressed with the amount of effort and care he took with this step as I know that getting into contract is easy in this market, getting through close of escrow can be challenging if you aren't thorough with the offer stage. He did a great job communicating, negotiating and contracting.
In the escrow stage Terry was great. He was very up-to-date using all the tools that make things easy...like Docusign. He was on top of all the details, kept in close communication with the buyer's agent. In short, he did a wonderful job managing what was a very stressful situation for us.
Terry did a fantastic job for us. He helped us get the home ready for sale, got it listed at the right price, worked hard to get the home exposed to the market and helped us get the best buyer/offer. Even though our home was listed at the right price we would attribute getting 7% over list price to Terry's knowledge and professionalism. My wife and I take credit for knowing how to hire a great agent!
