Nothing is better than having someone that understands what you want and communicates well with you! Barbara suggested houses that we never considered that turned out to be great options. Barbara was a very pleasant and professional agent to work with. She was always on time and readily available to show the house. She was great with returning emails, phone calls and text messages. I also appreciated her immediate approach in dealing with the listing agent and mortgage company when problems did arise however I did want to point out a few areas of the process that Ms. McNeal could learn from. As a first time home buyer I trusted my agent to be familiar with the home inspection process. When I got my inspection completed early in October the inspector nor Ms. McNeal told me to turn my gas line on. I did not know that it was a mandatory utility that had to be checked prior to closing. Nearly two months after my inspection as I was on the way to close I got a call from Countrywide stating that I could not get my FHA loan and close until the gas could be checked. Long story short I had to post pone closing for two weeks until the city of Richmond could activate my gas and I could have it checked. I understand that Ms. McNeal just recently began real estate so I think that situations like the one I had can be used as learning lessons that can be avoided with future clients. Overall I do not want this example to be used against her but rather as constructive criticism. Overall, I was very satisfied with her service and would refer her to friends/family.

This transaction was a new construction. Some builders do not welcome involvement from the buyer's agent during the building process. Since this transaction, I have learned that I must engage the builders whenever possible because they will not automatically communicate with me.

Normally, I am very personally involved with my clients and stay on top of the details of transactions. If I knew who wrote the comment, I may be better able to address their concern and apologize. The timing of this comment was very early in my real estate career and possibly reflective of my inexperience. 3/8/2012
