If you are buying / selling real estate, choosing a real estate agent is probably the first and one of the most important decisions you'll make. If you are in the Boston Metrowest area, start right and go with Jon Nichols. Touring a house with him is like having an agent, a contractor and an inspector by your side. We had worked with Jon briefly a few years back (he showed us a few condos) and a friend of ours had him as their agent when they bought their first place. We had positive feedback from both experiences so decided to give him a call when we started looking for a single family house. He met us the next day and gave us a quick tour of a property we were interested in. His knowledge and attention to detail were evident in the first few minutes. He not only understands the intricacies of a real estate transaction from a legal/financial point of view but also from a structural point of view. If asked how much a specific repair job or an improvement would cost, he happily provided an (on the spot) rough estimate. The estimates eventually all turned out to be very close to an actual quote from a contractor! He read our requirements quickly and would let us know if he thought a house was or wasn't a good fit for us. There was no pressure and we got all the time in the world to tour many many houses (some multiple times) and form our own opinions. After almost 6 months and a few dozen viewings we found a house we loved. The inspection was done and when the report came out we weren't surprised to notice that a number of issues mentioned in the report had already been pointed out to us by Jon. It was like having our house inspected twice and that was very re-assuring. Jon also gave us excellent referrals and we did end up going with the mortgage broker he recommended with very positive outcomes. Looking back, Jon's professionalism, pleasant attitude and positive take on things were critical in us being able to buy our new house.

In June 2012, Jon helped my family buy a house in Sudbury MA. Jon is a true professional. I mean it because he knows how and where to look at each house. He is patient and he explains every detail. He sometimes knows more about a house than the listing agent. Jon also likes to learn. He often was interested in the computer software I develop.
