Bartow is a delightful historic town whose history began just at the close of the Revolutionary War. The town is located in Jefferson County between Macon and Augusta at the intersection of Highways 319, 242, and 221.

Bartow offers a firsthand look at Georgia history. The business district contains buildings that were constructed between 1880 and 1920 and are distinguished by brick corbelling at their tops, recessed front doors, and occasional marble details.

The city's vibrancy is largely attributed to the Bartow Community Club. Through the club's efforts, funds have been raised for the restoration of the former Bartow Schoolhouse, one of the area's most prominent landmarks. The club also provides on-going financial support for Bartow's various needs, including park improvements and restoration of the town's historic depot.

One of the area's greatest sources of pride is The Schoolhouse Players, Bartow's exceptional theater troupe. The troupe performs regularly at the Mancin Auditorium which seats as many as 257 for theatrical and concert events and is well equipped with professional lighting and sound gear.

Bartow students will attend schools in the Jefferson County School System. The mission of the system is to provide an opportunity for students to reach their academic, physical, social, and personal potential so that they may become the most successful, productive citizens possible. The school system's motto is ""Six Schools, One Mission, Every Child, Every Day." The system was recognized as the 2005-2006 Super System of Quality Schools. Additionally, both Louisville Academy and Wrens Elementary were recognized as Title I Distinguished Schools.
