Neighboring communities include Beverly, Essex, Ipswich, Manchester, Topsfield and Wenham. The principal roads that pass through the town are Routes 22 and 1A. A short drive along 1A provides an abundance of shopping and commercial activity. The major artery of the North Shore, Route 128, is also a short distance away through Manchester.
The small and quaint area of shops at the center of town also offers a train station on the Boston-Ipswich commuter rail line. Across the street from the station are other town facilities such as the police and fire stations, as well as the Hamilton-Wenham Community Center that offers recreational activities for residents of all ages.
