Middleton is a rural residential town, located between the communities of the North Shore and the Merrimack Valley. Residents consider Middleton a place with the friendly qualities of a small town. The librarian is likely to know your favorite book and some of your neighbors may serve on one of the town's committees.

This community, 19 miles north of Boston is no longer the place people pass through on their way to somewhere else, but a town that has developed its own unique and charming character. Middleton's 5000 residents live spread out over approximately 15 square miles. Careful zoning and land usage regulations have preserved the community's rural appeal. This is a town of homes ranging from modest starter houses to impressive, stately new constructions. The abundance of open space is everywhere and can be easily observed on a scenic drive along Route 62. The town also has an array of commercial convenience along Route 114 and major highway access at Interstate 95 that passes through Middleton.

Besides its public library, Middletown's municipal services include snow removal, fire and police departments, a conservation commission and public schools. Two elementary schools serve the community, while older students can attend Masconomet Regional Middle School and High School. Additionally, several youth athletic organizations offer sports activities.

A blend of housing options exists here. Condo/ townhouses are available in both large buildings and in complexes featuring landscaped grounds. Home styles range widely as well. Older homes in traditional styles are to be found throughout Middleton near subdivisions of newly constructed residences. Middleton residents can take advantage of the community's close proximity to other towns in north east Massachusetts with their wealth of historic and recreational features.

Middleton is adjacent to Danvers, with a major indoor shopping mall, golf course and hotels. Peabody also has its own busy commercial activity. Neighboring Topsfield is an affluent rural residential community, similar to Middleton and it is also home to the Topsfield Fair Grounds that attract thousands of state fair goers each autumn. Other towns surrounding Middleton are North Reading, North Andover, Boxford and Lynnfield.

In August 2008, the average home sales price for a single family home or condo in Middleton, MA was $357,500. While this data is collected from the MLS and deemed reliable, it is not guaranteed.
