Like Brooklyn, Curtis Bay originally a farming community. With the construction of new infrastructure and factories, a mass urbanization of Brooklyn and Curtis Bay took place during the 1940's and 1950's, leading to a diverse and integrated community that still populates the area today. Unfortunately, in the 1980's Brooklyn and Curtis Bay together faced an economic downturn as many of the factories that contributed to its initial success closed their doors.
