Malden

Malden, a thriving residential, commercial and industrial city, just 5 miles north of Boston began its history over three and a half centuries ago as a small settlement called Mystic Side and has evolved to the modern, energetic city of today. A long series of writers and industrialists, revolutionaries and governors, actors and artists have counted themselves among Malden's residents. Even now, Malden plays an innovative part in New England's economy.

The city is situated in close proximity to metropolitan Bostons major arteries and interstates. There is direct access to Logan Airport, the world's eighth largest international airport and Malden is served by both commuter rail and the MBTA Orange Line. Malden is in excellent proximity to all the cultural and commercial offerings of Boston, but features a rich selection of its own retail, restaurant and business activity.

Major centers of this activity include the shopping plazas along Malden's busy roads and in Malden Square, on Main Street, where there is a wealth of ethnic, family and specialty restaurants; government and private sector offices; and amble parking. Amidst all this activity, Malden has been committed to preserving its neighborly and small town tradition.

Malden enjoys an active business community, a fine system of parks and playgrounds and a variety of social, cultural and fraternal organization. To proud city residents, Malden has the best of both worlds: the conveniences and opportunity of the big city and the intimate atmosphere of a small town.

Malden's ethnically diverse residents, numbering nearly 54,000, have access to a variety of high quality services including public transportation and schools. The Malden School Department oversees six elementary and middle schools as well as Malden High School. Several of these schools sites are newly constructed and all boast state-of-the-art facilities that integrate technology with learning. In addition to its public schools, Malden also is home to private and parochial schools, including Malden Catholic High School.

A wide array of single and multi-family, condominium and townhouses exists in Malden. In April 2008, the average home sales price for a single family home or condo in Malden, MA was $297,567. While this data is collected from the MLS and deemed reliable, it is not guaranteed.
