The Cook County suburb of Palos Hills offers a combination of rural living and at the same time, easy access to the city of Chicago. It is located 20 miles southwest of downtown Chicago, 20 minutes away from Midway Airport and three miles from Interstate 294 (Tri-State). Metra trains from the nearby Palos Park station transport riders into downtown Chicago in about one hour. Residents can also visit any number of small lakes and participate in fishing and boating activities. In addition, Palos Hills Golf Course is open to the community. The 45-acre site offers nine holes, practice putting and chipping areas, surrounded by prairie grasses, wildflowers, and natural wooded areas. In their leisure time, residents can also visit the 82,000-square-foot Fine and Performing Arts Center on the campus of Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills. It contains a 600-seat proscenium theater, a 150-seat black box theater, a 90-seat recital hall, and a 1,000-square-foot gallery. The center is also home to the Moraine Valley Children's Choir, the Southwest Community Band, the Valley Players Guild, the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and the Voices of the Valley.
