A modern, residential community, the suburb of Palos Heights covers 3.8 square miles and lies 17 miles southwest of downtown Chicago and 20 minutes from Midway Airport. The population of the Cook County suburb is 12,561(2005).Though Midway Airport is close by, rolling, wooded terrain gives Palos Heights a quiet, country atmosphere that makes it an ideal place to live and work. The town's earliest homes line streets east and west of Harlem Avenue. South of this area, homes are newer and increase in size.
