North Decatur named after a Stephen Decatur, a 19th century U.S. Naval hero, is a delightful place to call home. An urban town of approximately 18,000 residents, North Decatur is conveniently located just 15 minutes east of downtown Atlanta and is accessible by Interstate 285. The area has its own MARTA station located in the downtown square which provides a convenient alternative to driving into the downtown Atlanta area.
North Decatur is home to a thriving commercial district providing infinite options for residents. The area features over 200 shops, restaurants, galleries and other establishments. While Atlanta is just a short drive away, residents can find everything they could possibly want or need in their own backyards. The pedestrian-friendly community is perfect for afternoons or evenings out with friends and family. Homes are available in the area starting in the low $200s.
Residents will enjoy the many activities and events held in North Decatur. This independent public school district serves all of the children and youth within the four square mile area of North Decatur. Additionally there are several private schools convenient to the area. Colleges and universities are also nearby, including Agnes Scott College which is located right in North Decatur.
