Nestled between the Tarrant and Denton County borders, the town of Westlake combines the feel of a rural Texas community with easy access to the big city.

Minutes from downtown Fort Worth, Westlake is home to many upscale residential communities and Fortune 500 companies. In the mid 1980s, IBM built Solana, a multi-use office complex creating a robust business climate. The residential build up soon followed. Westlake offers several master-planned communities: Aspen Lane, Glenwyck Farms, Paigebrooke Farms, Stagecoach Hills, Vaquero which offers state-of-the-art club facilities, Wyck Hill and Mahotea Boone. This last enclave is Westlake's oldest subdivision dating back to the ancient days of 1978 and is named for the developer's grandmother.

Aside from the upscale neighborhood feel of Westlake, this town offers a most unusual educational opportunity in Westlake Academy. This school is an innovative, public, open-enrollment charter school. Currently, all residents are eligible to enroll their K-7 children in Westlake Academy, which offers a rigorous international baccalaureate curriculum on par with any private school. Residents of Glenwyck Farms Addition live inside the Carrol ISD boundaries. All other current subdivisions attend school through Keller ISD.

Westlake was originally settled by Charles and Matilda Medlin in 1847. It wasn't officially called Westlake until the mid 1950s when Dallas lawyer Glen Turner purchased 2,000 acres along State Highway 114 and created the Circle T Ranch. It has since changed hands several times from one millionaire to another, but it certainly spurred interest and activity in the area. The Westlake of today is a community devoted to excellence and family.
