Hard to believe that Lancaster's first name was Hardscrabble! As the first settlement in south Dallas County, no other community possesses as rich a history or beauty as Lancaster. Surrounded by open farmland, low rolling hills, creeks and woodlands, Lancaster sits along the Interstate 35 corridor and is poised for great things. Aside from the north/south access of I-35, east/west is covered by Interstate 20, positioning Lancaster as the southern transportation entrance to Dallas and Fort Worth.
With its eye firmly focused on the future, Lancaster also embraces its past. The historic town square offers one-of-a-kind shopping and dining from Hardscrabble Antiques to Amaya's Mexican Grill. Parts of the town square are undergoing refurbishment. Of course, downtown Dallas is only 15 minutes away providing museums, theater and professional sports.
Lancaster has a lifestyle for everyone and homes to fit those lifestyles in every price range. Housing ranges from apartments to single family homes to stately mansions. Historic landmark homes abound. In 2001, Lancaster opened the state-of-the-art Lancaster Veteran's Memorial Public Library, providing one of the premier genealogy sections in the state. The children of Lancaster are served mainly by the Lancaster Independent School District; although, a small portion is served by the Dallas ISD. For higher education opportunities, Lancaster is home to Cedar Valley College, which features a well -regarded fine arts program.
There's something for everyone in this city of over 33,000 warm and friendly people: relaxed lifestyle, easy access to big city life and easy access to airports including Lancaster's own municipal airport.
In May 2007, the average home sales price for a single family home or condo in Lancaster, TX was $107,060. While this data is collected from the MLS and deemed reliable, it is not guaranteed.
