One of the fastest growing cities in Denton County, Roanoke has grown from 2,800 residents in 2000 to 5,450 in 2007. That growth can be attributed to the small town charm the city maintains more than 150 years after it was settled. Located just northeast of Fort Worth, residents are also minutes from that city's renowned shopping, restaurants, and museums. It's also a short drive to the entertainment capitol of Arlington, home to the Texas Rangers baseball team, Six Flags Over Texas, and Hurricane Harbor.

Commuters appreciate Roanoke's proximity to U.S. 377 and State Highway 114 and outdoor lovers enjoy the quick drive to the great fishing, camping, hiking, and sailing at Grapevine Lake. There's also the nearby Texas Motor Speedway, which attracts race fans from all over the country. Golfers will feel right at home, thanks to the nearby Trophy Club Country Club and Doral Tesoro Golf Club. Once home to golf legend Byron Nelson, Roanoke renamed the city's main east-west thoroughfare State Highway 114 Business after him. There's quite a bit to keep residents at home, though. The community hosts year-round family-friendly events, including a Valentines Dance, an Independence Day Celebration, and an old-fashioned Christmas Parade.

Roanoke schoolchildren attend Northwest ISD, one of the fastest growing school districts in the state. Covering more than 232 square miles and 13 communities, Northwest ISD currently serves about 10,000 students, but is expected to have as many as 44,000 students by the year 2022. According to the 2000 census, the median household income was $48,107 and the median home value was $103,300. Home prices start in the mid-100s, and go up to more than $300,000. New and recently constructed home developments include Lost Creek Ranch, the Parks of Roanoke, Vista Greens, The Parks of Hillsborough, The Meadows of Roanoke, and Lost Spurs.
