With the advent of rail service between Fort Worth and Texarkana in 1881, the city of Keller was established. With railroad service now available, Keller began to prosper as a trade center for the surrounding farm community. The first persons to engage in business after the railroad arrived were C.C. Nance, groceries and dry goods; J.F. Roberts, drugs; and Henry Cates, general merchandise. Today, many major employers reside in the city that sits just north of Fort Worth. Some of those include Sabre, Fidelity Investments, and Motorola Distribution Center, to name a few.

Transportation in and out of the area is made easy with options all around. The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is located just nine miles east of Keller. The Fort Worth Alliance Airport can be found four miles north of the city, and it's just five miles south to the Richland Hills Light Rail Station.

New residential development is expanding the city in every direction. Today, over 30,000 residents call Keller home. In 2005, the average existing home was valued at $225,625; new home construction was $108,000. Residential development is expanding the city in all directions, with homes under $100,000 to close to $2 million. Availability includes everything from manufactured housing to lush, custom-built estates, ranch land, and everything in between. For commuters, Interstate 35W and U.S. Highway 377 give residents quick access to Fort Worth and surrounding communities.

Keller recently built a new town hall, municipal service center, and a state-of-the-art recreation and aquatic center, The Keller Pointe, considered one of the best of its kind in the Southwest. The Pointe features indoor and outdoor water slides, a fitness center, youth adventure camps, activities for seniors, and year-round activities for families. The Keller Town Center includes historic Old Town, shopping, municipal facilities, and connections to the City's extensive trail system.

Keller Independent School District has 30 campuses serving more than 20,000 students. Enrollment in the school district has doubled during the past ten years and is expected to do the same during the next decade, making it the ninth-fastest growing school district in Texas. The district includes four high schools, five intermediate school, five middle schools, and sixteen elementary schools.

The city's growth today is based on a vision of well-managed growth while maintaining a sense of small town living, resulting in excellent schools, superior public safety, an expansive park and recreation system, and a variety of homes and lifestyles. The quality of life in Keller is enriched by The Keller Pointe - the city's Aquatic and Recreation Center, Sky Creek Golf Club, and eight parks with 13 miles of hike and bike trails.
