The Colony shares history unique to this part of the state. The Colony was named after the historic Peters Colony Settlement, the only free land grant colony in the Republic of Texas. Some portions of the land for The Colony were purchased from descendants of the original settlers in the 1840s. The City of The Colony was incorporated in January, 1977.
