Its location on NW Loop 820 and on the major thoroughfare of the Jacksboro Highway means residents are minutes from other area attractions as well, including the entertainment capitol of Arlington, home to the Texas Rangers baseball team, Six Flags Over Texas, and Hurricane Harbor, as well as other attractions and amenities. Sportsmen love the great fishing at nearby Lake Worth, and golfers appreciate the top notch facilities at the public Rockwood Golf Course and Shady Oaks Country Club. Sansom also boasts proximity to the Naval Air Station Fort Worth-Joint Reserve Base.
Sansom Park developed when the area was subdivided by the Rosen Heights Land Company in the 1920s. During the 1930s the construction of the Jacksboro Highway increased its number of businesses and its population, as did the addition of defense contractors and other military facilities during and after World War II.
Most of Sansom Park is served by the Castleberry Independent School District. A small portion of the city is served by the Lake Worth Independent School District. For college students, there's the nearby Tarrant County College Northwest Campus.
According to the 2000 census, the median household income was $28,714 and the median home value was $38,800.
