Tucked in the northeast corner of Tarrant County, Haltom City is just minutes from the amenities of downtown Fort Worth, while still offering the benefits of small town life. Established from a ranching and farming community, Haltom City was originally founded as a village in 1932 and named to honor G. W. Haltom, a Fort Worth jeweler whose family ranch holdings comprised much of the new area. Incorporated as a city in 1949, the community expanded and is now home to roughly 40,000 residents.

The city boasts easy access to three of the area's major highways: NE Loop 820 on the north, Interstate 35W on the west, and State Highway 121 on the south. According to the 2000 census, the median household income was $38,818 and the median home value was $64,400. Current availability includes both older and new homes in the $100,000 to $300,000 range.

Most of Haltom City is served by the Birdville Independent School District, which has seven elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and an alternative school within the Haltom City boundaries. A portion of Haltom City is served by the Fort Worth Independent School District.

Golfers will appreciate the city's easy access to Iron Horse Golf Course, one of the top-rated, public championship golf courses in Texas, and Diamond Oaks Country Club. For fitness buffs, there's the Haltom City Recreation Center, which features a top-of-the-line fitness center and exercise classes.

Residents love the city's year-round community events, such as SpringFest, which features a bounce house and an Easter Egg Hunt, the Haltom Stampede, and the Haltom Halloween Carnival. Students appreciate the Haltom City Public Library's free homework help, either in person at the library or via their home PC.
