Duluth is the second largest city in Gwinnett County and is noted as the first Georgia city to elect a woman as mayor in 1922. This bustling city still remains a progressive town with a keen vision and a bright future for its residents. The city is located just 25 miles northeast of Atlanta and is accessible by Interstate 85, making it a prime location for its 22,000 residents.
Families will also enjoy area attractions nearby including Lake Lanier, the Southeastern Railway Museum and the Gwinnett Civic and Cultural Center. The Arena at Gwinnett Center is host to some of the biggest names in entertainment regularly. Golfing, bowling, skating and shopping are also all nearby. Gwinnett Place Mall is a great one-stop shopping mall for all of your family's needs and wants. Nearby Mall of Georgia and Discover Mills provide even more shopping options as well as a variety of restaurants.
Families in Duluth will enjoy a number of community activities and events. The Duluth Fall Festival is held each September and caters to arts and crafts enthusiasts with over 200 booths. Other community events include the SummerStage Concert Series, the Fourth of July celebration and "Flicks on the Bricks."
Students in Duluth will attend Gwinnett County Public Schools, one of the state's most impressive school systems. Nine schools in Gwinnett County were included in a recent Newsweek article that noted top schools throughout the country. Of the Gwinnett County schools included, Duluth High School had the highest ranking.
Duluth is home to some of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the Atlanta metropolitan area including Sugarloaf Country Club, St. Marlo, and St. Ives.
