Fair Oaks is a charming, unique and well-established community located in the unincorporated area of Sacramento County. Home to 29,000 residents, Fair Oaks consists of a mix of suburban and semi-rural neighborhoods. Located sixteen miles northeast of Sacramento on the north bank of the beautiful American River, near U.S. Highway 50 and Interstate 80, Fair Oaks is served by Regional Transit from Sacramento.
Fair Oaks’ uniqueness also stems from its existing business core and town center, known as the Fair Oaks Village. The village is home to narrow winding roads, rolling hills, an open-air amphitheatre, and a historic plaza of historic buildings full of unique galleries and shops.
Fair Oaks Village is also home to several dozen free-roaming chickens which add to the quirky charm of this well-kept town. The village shares the similar characteristics one could find in a small town atmosphere. The Plaza Park Amphitheatre, located in the Village, is the main site of the Fair Oaks Theatre Festival, an outdoor community theatre, and also the site of the annual celebration called Fiesta Days, an event celebrating the residents of Fair Oaks.
Known as a tight-knit family community Fair Oaks has a variety of charming, private and sizable single family properties including many ranch and cottage-style homes. Fair Oaks is served by the San Juan Unified School District – a widespread and well-known district for its award-winning schools and quality education.
Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District offers a wide variety of programs and recreation facilities for everyone from children to seniors. Nine parks covering over 125 acres are maintained by the district throughout the town featuring lighted tennis courts, ball diamonds and district-sponsored leagues. The Plaza and Village Park complex is the location of the community clubhouse, outdoor amphitheater and crafts building. Other recreation attractions in the Fair Oaks area include the 114-acre Sailor Bar Park and the American River Parkway and bicycle path, Lake Natoma and swimming, fishing and boating on the American River.
Fair Oaks is situated just a ten minute drive away from Folsom and the many recreational amenities of Folsom Lake State Recreation Area which offers water skiing, sailing, swimming and fishing and is one of the most visited locations in the California State Park system. There is also a campground at the Beal’s Point access, which has a boat ramp, beach and picnic area.
In July 2008, the average home sales price for a single family home or condo in Elk Grove, CA was $307,394. While this data is collected from the MLS and deemed reliable, it is not guaranteed.
