Sahuarita is a town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. Sahuarita is approximately fifteen miles north of Tucson, and 130 miles from Phoenix. The town of Sahuarita was incorporated in 1994, roughly translated from Spanish as "little saguaro,"" for the famous cactus that thrives throughout the Santa Cruz Valley area. The town is spread out over thirty square miles. It borders the Green Valley retirement community and is north of an active artists' colony. The area offers direct access to Tucson and Mexico via Interstate 19. The population of the Sahuarita stands at just over 14,000.

Students are served by schools in the Sahuarita Unified School District. The district with enrollment of more than 4,300 students, takes great pride in all its programs. It has an outstanding record of 65% of its students continuing to further their education at universities, community colleges and technical schools. All schools in grades K-12 have computer laboratories and computers in every classroom. The Sopori Elementary School offers a full-day kindergarten curriculum, which is not a standard in Arizona.

Most homes in Sahuarita were built in the last ten years. They are mostly modern Santa Fe stucco homes with rock yards. Because they were built during this area's real estate boom, the lots are smaller than you would think an out-of-town development. However, the plentiful public spaces and parks more than make up for it. One of the big draws to living in Sahuarita is the open spaces. Most of the neighborhoods have incorporated parks, walking trails, and recreational into their development plan, meaning there are more opportunities to get outside than in the city.

Sahuarita residents have a variety of recreational opportunities. Anamax Park is a 13 acre park with a 5,000 square foot recreation center. Plans are underway to expand the park another 20 acres to the south. Sahuarita Lake Park is a 15 acre lake park with grassy areas and a pathway surrounding it. It is part of Arizona's Urban Fishing Program, and is stocked with fish monthly. There are several picnic areas and benches along the pathway as well as fitness equipment. Parque Los Arroyos provides a seven-acre neighborhood park, which has a playground, walking trail, turf area, restroom and ramada rentals.

In March 2008, the average home sales price for a single family home or condo in Sahuarita, AZ was $194,983. While this data is collected from the MLS and deemed reliable, it is not guaranteed.
