In 1909, O.D. Jarrell, a real estate developer and E.C. Haeber founded the town of Jarrell, Texas. The town was situated on an old stage coach road near the new construction of the Bartlett and Western railway line. Once the rail line was complete, a bank, a saloon, two stores and a post office quickly popped up. Corn hill, a near by community, soon moved to Jarrell and the town prospered. Today, Jarrell is a small but growing community with a population of just over 2,100 friendly people.
Jarrell is working on improvements that will bring modernization and new prosperity to the town. The community once relied on cotton corn and cattle as their means of income, today businesses such as Lime quarrying, light manufacturing and other local businesses will carry Jarrell and its residents through the 21st century while maintaining the atmosphere and homey feel of a local small town that values its residents and strives to preserve a casual yet thriving economy.
The Jarrell Independent school District has three campuses with attendance of 650 students. The Jarrell ISD believes in providing a well rounded education based on excellent academic programs that provide a nurturing learning environment coupled with athletics to keep the students active. In addition, extracurricular activities are promoted to stimulate creative thinking and expand the minds of students. Jarrell students test scores and the District report cards all provide overwhelming evidence that this approach to learning is paying off with high marks excellent ratings for the district.

Coupled with a low cost of living, a wide range of housing opportunities and a small town atmosphere--Jarrell is an attractive candidate for anyone thinking of moving.
