Located in Orange and Seminole Counties, Goldenrod, Florida is a beautiful unincorporated community in sunny Central Florida. Named after the lovely wildflower, the town of Goldenrod is superbly sited approximately 20 minutes from the Orlando International Airport, 10 minutes to Disney World, and just under one hour to the sunny shores of Daytona Beach.
Easy to get around, Goldenrod has the convenience of the Lynx Bus with services in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties that offers commuters an alternative to using the high-priced gas in their automobiles. State Roads 417 (Central Florida Greenway), 426, and 436 are all located within minutes of Goldenrod as is Interstate 4, the main road that connects Florida from the west coast to the east coast. An Amtrak station is located just five miles from Goldenrod, in the city of Winter Park, and offers services between New York City, Georgia, and Florida.
Goldenrod’s first settlers arrived in the late 1870s and used the natural resources of the warm, Central Florida climate to grow Florida’s world-renowned oranges. In March of 1926, the Goldenrod Corporation developed 158 lots into homes. The Goldenrod Corporation is also credited with establishing electricity, water, and a park in Goldenrod where residents could enjoy many outdoor activities including a boat house on fabulous Perch Pond. After World War II, many soldiers that had been stationed in Central Florida returned here to make their homes.
Part of two counties, Orange and Seminole, Goldenrod has even more to offer residents including 38 movie theaters and 2,710 restaurants that are located within 15 miles and 162 public golf courses that are located within 30 miles of this golden city. Beautiful parks and lakes are throughout Goldenrod and include Lake Nan, Lake Waunatta, and Lake Perch for residents to enjoy fishing and other water sports. The Goldenrod Festival and Parade is held in October and is always a local favorite.
