Picturesque Casselberry, Florida, is beautifully situated in the southern most portion of Seminole County, in Central Florida, just seven miles north of downtown Orlando and approximately 40 minutes from Orlando International Airport. Casselberry is where the crossroads of US Highway 17-92 and State Road 436 intersect. Casselberry is a thriving community of eight square miles that includes more than two dozen lakes, 16 parks, and many retail, government, residential, and recreational activities.
Founded by Hibbard Casselberry of Illinois who noticed some "pretty land" while visiting his mother and aunt in a nearby Florida town, bought the land in the 1920s; the town of Casselberry was incorporated in the 1940s. Friendly, vibrant, and growing, Casselberry's humble roots saw a population of 407 in 1950 and in 2004 the estimated population was 24,735.
Casselberry's Parks and Recreation Department offers recreational programs, sports, programs for seniors, cultural activities, and environmental programs. Through Casselberry's fantastic parks, residents can also enjoy fishing, hiking, a swimming pool, playgrounds, picnic areas, ball fields and more. Whether traveling to one of Casselberry's numerous fine retail shops or restaurants or taking in a day of sight-seeing in nearby Orlando, the Lynx Bus Service offers a convenient alternative to driving.
However, if you decide to explore beyond the borders of this magnificent Central Florida locale, Interstate 4 is only five minutes away. Tampa is to the west of Casselberry, Jacksonville is to the north, Miami is far to the south, and Daytona Beach lies west of this bustling community.
Part of the Seminole County Public School System, the town of Casselberry has two public schools, Casselberry Elementary and South Seminole Middle School and two private schools, Kenworthy School and The Geneva School.
Casselberry's superb location and welcoming atmosphere, has in recent years led to much new construction to include several hundred units of apartment-condominium residential construction, as well as four new single-family subdivisions.
Casselberry, as with most of Central Florida, offers a variety of home styles including Florida contemporary-style homes and Spanish-style homes. The average age of a home in Casselberry is 20 years old and these styles of homes include single-story concrete block and brick homes.
