Located 25 miles north of in northern Harris County, Spring is at the end of Spring-Cypress Road one mile east of Interstate 45. The City of Spring, including the communities that surround it, is a census-designated place (CDP) with a population of 36,385 people. There are approximately 12,302 households.

The Spring Area was likely first occupied by a tribe known as Orcoquisac Indians who depended on fishing and hunting which they found in abundance on nearby Spring Creek. When French and later Spanish settlers set up trading posts here, they named the area "El Orcoquisac". Today the area continues the lively tradition of these early merchants in Old Town Spring, the towns designated shopping and entertainment district. Old Town Spring--the central business district of the area--is a quaint turn of the century town composed of shops, restaurants, museums, and art galleries.

You will find a variety of antiques, collectibles, clothing and accessories for the home and gifts for all occasions. Located near the original rail yards built in the early 1900s by the Great Northern Railroad, the Victorian-style shops add to the nostalgic feeling of having stepped back in time. Some of the shops indeed occupy buildings constructed in the early 1900s for the then booming railroad town.

The merchants of Old Town Spring literally travel the globe in search of unique and unusual wares to display in their shops for pedestrian patrons strolling after a leisurely meal at one of the many tempting restaurants offering a array of menus. Ongoing festivals such as the Texas Crawfish and Music Festival are held each year in April and Old Town Spring is voted one of the top attractions in Texas each year.

A water park called Six Flags Splashtown is located in Spring. Pupils in the Spring Area attend schools in either the Spring Independent School District or Klein Independent School District.
