San Ramon is a medium sized town in Contra Costa County with about 51,000 residents. San Ramon is about 46 minutes from San Francisco, and is just south of Danville. It's easy to access San Ramon via car (it is at the intersection of 24 and 242), public transportation (Bay Area Rapid Transit is nearby). Until the early 1980's the City of San Ramon was primarily a bedroom community for the major employment centers in the Bay Area.

However, the development of Bishop Ranch, in 1982, transformed San Ramon into a significant regional employment center. The Bishop Ranch Office Park is home to approximately 200 companies. San Ramon is also an affluent community with the average household income is $95,856, more than twice the national average. San Ramon has a similar make-up to many towns across the United States as there are a number of small homes, apartment complexes, and malls.

San Ramon is a good place to buy a home because it is a relatively short distance from the major cities of Oakland, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley. If you are looking to buy your home in San Ramon you will find some competition, not unlike the rest of the area. Nevertheless, your investment will surely pay off as home prices in this area are on the rise.

Prospective San Ramon homeowners will also be pleased to learn that the city's public schools are well respected. Some of the added bonuses of buying a home in San Ramon are the town's proximity to wine country, the Bay, and San Ramon has some of the best weather in the country. The good schools, diverse community, easy access to the surrounding beauty of the Bay Area, and proximity to Silicon Valley and San Francisco all contribute to San Ramon's growing popularity and booming real estate market.

In September 2008, the average home sales price for a single family home or condo in San Ramon was $709,137. While this data is collected from the MLS and deemed reliable, it is not guaranteed.
