Old fashioned charm meets contemporary conveniences in the city of Smyrna. The city is only 15 minutes from downtown Atlanta and is accessible by Interstate 75 and Interstate 285. Major surface streets Cobb Parkway and Atlanta Road offer alternatives to the interstate. Located in Cobb County, the town is home to nearly 50,000 residents. The city stands out as the birthplace of world famous actress Julia Roberts as well as the hundreds of thousands of jonquils that bloom in early spring. These beautiful flowers have earned the city the nickname "The Jonquil City."
Smyrna boasts a mixed retail and residential district lined with antique street lamps. Residents will enjoy living amongst quaint shops and a variety of dining and entertainment options. Cobb features some of the state's best shopping as it is home to several shopping malls, including Cumberland Mall and Cobb Galleria and other retail establishments. Another notable fact about the area is that it the only city-operated library system in the state. The Smyrna Public Library, separate from the Cobb County Public Library System has been in operation for 70 years. Smyrna is served by Cobb County School District which is the second-largest school system in Georgia and is comprised of 113 schools. Campbell High School, a magnet school for the International Baccalaureate Program lies within the city limits.
