This amusement park is run by Westchester Count, and is the only government owned and operated amusement park in the nation. Playland was declared as a national landmark in 1987.

In addition, the county is home to several fine museums, including the Neuberger Museum of Art and the Hudson River Museum.

In addition to 40 distinct school districts located within Westchester County, there are many diverse advanced educational opportunities. Westchester County is home to a number of institutions of higher learning including Westchester Community College, Concordia College, Sarah Lawrence College, State University New York Empire, and SUNY Purchase. Other universities also have branches within Westchester County including Fordham University, New York University along with Pace University.
