Odenton was established during the construction of the B&P railroad line, which crossed through town and linked the cities of Baltimore and Washington. Although the B&P line is no longer in existence, trains are still an important feature in Odenton, as many residents commute to Washington DC via the MARC train, which as a main stop in the town.
