At the foot of Mt. Tamalpais is the quiet town of Mill Valley. Mill Valley is similar to Sausalito, but doesn't attract as many tourists. You can walk out your door and be at some of the best hiking, road biking, and mountain biking locations the state has to offer, within 10 minutes.
The homes around this area are mostly craftsman style homes, but there are also a number of apartments and condominiums for singles and couples to rent or buy. As stated on the city's Chamber of Commerce website, "Mill Valley is known throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for its charm, natural beauty and cultural events. Located in Marin County, just north of San Francisco, it is a special place to its friendly residents and visitors."
The town is also known for its excellent school system, where the vast majority of high school seniors graduate and go on to higher education institutions. Mill Valley real estate is a good investment not only because of the city's natural and cultural attractions, but because of its low crime rate, and most importantly, because home prices are continuing to rise.
