Santee is located in eastern San Diego County, about 20 miles (and 20 minutes) from the coast. It was incorporated in 1980, which means that it's currently in its 27th year as a municipality. With a population of over 53,000 (as of 2005), Santee is the 11th largest of San Diego's 18 cities. Santee is still growing and, since nearly half of its land is undeveloped, Santee promises to continue expanding for years to come, as does Santee real estate.
This continuing growth has attracted many large and small businesses to the Santee area as well. A brand new mall was recently built, which brings shopping and fine dining to the area. Wal-Mart, Costco, 24-Hour Fitness, and Target are also relatively recent additions to the community. Summertime concerts are held at the Trolley center amphitheatre and completion of the 52 and 125 freeways will connect the 67 freeway and allow many residents an easier route into and out of Santee.
Perspective homebuyers in Santee will be attracted to Santee Lakes, which includes 7 man-made lakes surrounded by an immaculate park. Here you and your family can ride bikes, jog, picnic, or rent a paddle boat on the lake. If you're a fisherman or woman, or just enjoy tying some fishing line to a stick and hoping for the best, you'll be drawn to the lake every Thursday, when it is stocked with trout for the upcoming weekend. On summer weekends you'll be able to enjoy concerts in the park, feeding the ducks, and perhaps even a wedding reception or two.
In February 2009, the average home sales price for a single family home or condo in Santee was $275,364. While this data is collected from the MLS and deemed reliable, it is not guaranteed.
