National City is a community that continues to grow. While it has long been known for its commerce, recent renovation projects are helping locals to prove that its not only a great place to do business; it's a great place to live. The San Diego County Office of Education, San Diego State University and Southwestern College recently teamed up to provide better educational facilities in National City. The result is a facility currently under construction here called Education Village.
Among other things, Education Village will hold the Higher Education Center, which starts students off on their college careers and feeds them into the State University system. A program since 1998, the Higher Education Center is starting to see results: local residents educated at local universities are giving back to their communities. As this program becomes more established, one result will be a stronger community. The facility will be an impressive addition to central National City.
Besides classrooms, the building will hold a bookstore, coffeehouse, cybercafe, and parking. This is just one addition to the many renovations of the area. The Chamber of Commerce just moved into a new building. The four area buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places have all been restored. And city landscapers are redoubling their efforts to ensure that National City is as beautiful as it is productive.
In February 2009, the average home sales price for a single family home or condo in National City was $178,502. While this data is collected from the MLS and deemed reliable, it is not guaranteed.
