Arizona City is a small town of less than 8,000 people. It is located in the beautiful Sonoran Desert, specifically in the Santa Cruz Basin, half way between Phoenix and Tucson and just minutes west of Casa Grande. The Santa Cruz Basin is a fertile agricultural area of beautiful fields teaming with cotton plants stretching for acres, quiet country roads, fields of grains waving gently in the warm Arizona breeze, and cattle grazing in pastures with the occasional ranch house visible sitting off in the distance, flanked by rustic barns and well used tractors.
The rural charm of Arizona City is complimented by Paradise Lake, a 48 acre man-made lake. At last count there were approximately 100 homes built on the lake, their lush desert landscaping adding to the beauty of this desert jewel. Their docks stretching into the water’s edge, anchored with fishing boats, small pontoon boats, jet skis and canoes. Those living on the lake often take in one of Arizona’s glorious sunrises out on the water, while their neighbors on the farm are already hard at work in the fields. And yet others are often on their way to the Arizona City’s 18 hole, par 72 golf course, which no self-respecting Arizona town would be without.
Arizona City is one of those quaint little towns where everyone knows your name and folks work hard yet really know how to enjoy their life and what their community has to offer. The average age in Arizona City is 41 with a median income slightly higher than the national average and home prices slightly below the norm making it quite desirable. Arizona City because of its well established residents has been insulated from the extreme highs and lows that a majority of the country has experienced, adding to the enviable lifestyle enjoyed in this community.
Just south of Arizona City are agate fields, rich in deposits that color the landscape with beautiful bands of color. When accented in the spring with swaths of purple and yellow wildflowers and their stately saguaros rising against the slope of the hillside, these fields have made for some of the most beautiful pictures of the Sonoran desert to ever have graced the cover Arizona Highways Magazine. These pictures have drawn tourists, from around the world, to Arizona to see for themselves the beauty of the desert. These fields have had rock hounds, who frequent the statewide Arizona Gem & Mineral Show, flocking here for years.
