Originally founded as a resort destination by affluent New Englanders in the late 1880s, Winter Park is today known for its majestic trees, beautiful parks, brick-lined streets, stunning homes, a private liberal arts college, educational museums, sparkling lakes, and amazing shops.
Winter Park is located just 15 minutes from the excitement of Orlando with its well-known amusement parks including Disney, Sea World, Wet n’ Wild, and Universal Studios. Winter Park is sited just over one hour from breathtaking beaches like Cape Canaveral where you can also explore the history of America’s space program. Just minutes to the Interstate 4 corridor, the residents of this part of Orange County have the option of letting someone else do the driving for them thanks to the public transportation of the Lynx Bus with convenient routes in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties. Amtrak has a train station in wonderful Winter Park and offers services north to New York and south to Miami.

Winter Park is home to some very prestigious institutions of higher learning including Full Sail University, Rollins College, Herzing College, and Valencia Community College. Full Sail University is a media production school and college that offers training in film, music production, video game design, computer animation, and more. Rollins College, founded in 1885, is Florida’s oldest college offering a challenging liberal arts curriculum leading to an undergraduate degree in the College of Arts and Sciences. Herzing College was established in 1995 and offers both Associates and Bachelor’s Degrees. Valencia Community College offers AAS/AS degree and certificate programs.
Winter Park is part of Orange County Public Schools and boasts six elementary schools, two middle schools, one ninth grade center, and one high school. Winter Park also has numerous private schools throughout the city.
