Astatula, an Indian term meaning "lake of sunbeams," "lake of moonbeams," and "people of different tribes," is the ideal location for those looking to escape the crowds of Florida's more populated cities. Considered part of the Orlando metropolitan area, Astatula is approximately one hour from Orlando International Airport and about 90 minutes northeast of Tampa.
Located in lovely Lake County, Astatula is one of several rural towns in this county that are known for their friendly hometown charm, amazing outdoor life, and strong community pride. Several generations of native Floridians are not hard to find in Astatula, where tree-lined streets and historic clapboard houses set the scene for this Americana town.
