Today, with an estimated population of 62,570, Missouri City has expanded considerably. Located mostly into Fort Bend County with a small portion in Harris County, some 17,069 households. According to year 2000 census data, the median income for a Missouri City household is $77,762, well above the median income for the Houston Metro Area as a whole. With the benefit of the railroad, Missouri City was already a commuter city for residents who, by train, commuted to adjacent towns like Staffords Point and Sugar Land to work.
