This Tarrant County city is a living example of a vibrant community committed to its residents' good times. Conveniently located between Dallas and Fort Worth, North Richland Hills is known for its attractive neighborhoods, beautiful parks, convenient shopping, and recreational opportunities that bring in visitors from throughout the region.
Its popularity shows: the city went from roughly 56,000 residents in 2000 to roughly 63,500 residents in 2007. The city's proximity to NE Loop 820 gives residents quick access to nearby communities.
The city's Parks & Recreation Department is developing a comprehensive citywide system of on-and-off-road trails and bicycle routes to complement the city's rapidly growing system of parks and open spaces. In addition, the city's Cultural Arts Division's Art in Public Places Program has commissioned original art, in a diversity of mediums and materials, displayed throughout the city.
The most popular attraction for residents and visitors alike is NRH2O Family Water Park. The 60-acre park also offers giant water slides, a 16,000 square foot wave pool, and an extensive water playground. There's also the Richland Tennis Center, activity-filled recreation and senior centers, and the Iron Horse Golf Course, voted one of the best municipal golf courses in Texas.
In 2006, North Richland Hills was named by Money Magazine as one of the 100 Best Places to Live in the United States, citing its good jobs, low crime, quality schools, plenty of open space, reasonable home prices, and lots to do.
According to the 2000 census, the median household income in North Richland Hills was $56,150 and the median home value was $100,300. Homes include both older homes in established neighborhoods and newer construction in planned communities. Prices begin at under $100,000 and go up as high as $500,000. School children attend the Birdville ISD.
