Lake Dallas, is located just north of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Lake Dallas is a resort community on the shores of Lewisville Lake ten miles south of Denton in southeastern Denton County. The 2000 Census estimated a population of 6,166.
Residents enjoy numerous recreational opportunities, including camping, picnicking, boating activities and water sports, swimming, and horse trails. Within the area is Westlake Park, with a swimming beach, boat ramp and picnic tables. Westlake Park is located off the Lake Dallas exit on I-35.
Students are served by the schools of the Lake Dallas Independent School District. There is one primary school (for pre-school and kindergarten students), two elementary schools, along with an intermediate school (serving fifth grade). Middle school students (grades six, seven and eight) attend Lake Dallas Middle School, while high school students attend Lake Dallas High School. In addition to Lake Dallas, the district serves the town of Hickory Creek as well as portions of Corinth and Shady Shores.
The average sales price for a single family home or condo in Lake Dallas was $127,578 in January 2007.
