It is a fabulous setting along the Old Chisholm Trail. Cedar Hill is 841 feet above sea level, the highest point in Dallas County, the highest point between Dallas and Galveston, and offers breathtaking views.
Located less than 20 minutes from downtown Dallas, and with 36 square miles of emerald green cedar trees and rolling hills, Cedar Hill continues to boom in the mid-to-high-end residential sector as people have discovered its beauty, opportunity, convenience, and excellent quality of life.
Over the last decade, residents have witnessed a flurry of commercial and residential building resulting in an updated Cedar Hill. Steady growth continues in the construction of new housing in the city. The feel of the "hill country," along with the views of Lake Joe Pool, provide a great backdrop for custom home sales. Cedar Hill has more than doubled in size since 1990 with a population of almost 44,000. The city attracts another 175,000 people who live in the metroplex for recreation, shopping, and dining.
Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy Cedar Hill State Park at Joe Pool Lake. With almost two million visitors a year, it is the second most visited state park in Texas. Other outdoor events include the city's Parks and Recreation Department's numerous special events such as Country Day on the Hill, Old Town Holiday on the Hill, Fiesta Hispana, Great North Texas Kite Festival, Music in the Park, fishing events for children, and sports tournaments.
The Cedar Hill Independent School District is a 5A, exemplary and recognized school district with 2500 students. Some areas of Cedar Hill are also served by Duncanville Independent School District and Midlothian Independent School District.
