A culturally diverse and family-oriented village that's located 23 miles west of downtown Chicago in both DuPage and Will Counties, Woodridge boasts excellent accessibility to major roads, plenty of recreational options, an excellent school system, and a wealth of housing in various price ranges. Nearby towns include Willowbrook, Naperville and Downers Grove. The population of Woodridge is 33,263 (2004.) Woodridge's housing stock consists of everything from affordable single-family starter homes to custom-built luxury residences. Townhomes, condominiums and apartments are also available. The Seven Bridges subdivision, which is comprised of single-family residences and townhomes, contains an ice skating rink, two restaurants, a golf course and driving range, office buildings, a movie theatre, and a fitness center. In their leisure time, villagers can play golf at two village-owned golf courses- Seven Bridges and the Village Greens of Woodridge- and take advantage of three outdoor ice skating rinks, the Edwards Health and Fitness Center in nearby Naperville, an off-road bikeway system, three movie theatres, and the Brunswick Entertainment Center, a one-stop location for bowling, video games, billiards and more. Then can also go shopping at 17 shopping districts in town, attend some outdoor summer concerts and festivals, and see a show at the McAninch Auditorium at the College of DuPage in nearby Glen Ellyn. There are also plenty of local eateries in town that serve every sort of cuisine including deli, Chinese, Italian and Mexican. The Woodridge Park District oversees more than 480 acres of parklands that provide open space, playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields and two lakes: Lake Harriet and Lake Carleton, both stocked with fish. The Park District also oversees 35 parks, wetlands, and various bikeways. The 8.5-acre Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park boasts a Louisiana bayou theme and contains three slides, a deep-diving pool, a large sand play area, and other amenities. The Park District also plans more than 1,500 yearly recreational programs and special events that appeal to persons of all ages and abilities. I-355 and I-55 roadways are minutes away.
